Kathie MacDonald secured her fifth consecutive win at Stop #5 of the Northwest Women's Pool Association (NWPA) tour held Aug. 28–30 in Spokane, WA, maintaining an undefeated record for the season and virtually locking up the 2026 Player of the Year award. The event was a $1,000-added, 10-ball tournament on 7-foot tables featuring 31 entrants at Legacy Billiards. MacDonald advanced through her bracket by defeating Sarah Myers-Mitchell and Mikayla Jones in double-hill matches before overcoming Maryann McConnell to reach the hot seat match against Kim Jones; she ultimately won the title after a grueling race-to-9 final where both players struggled with breaks but traded racks until MacDonald took control late in the game.
The tournament saw strong competition throughout, with Mikayla Jones finishing as the runner-up by winning a separate Second Chance event that drew 13 entrants. In this side of the bracket, Jones defeated Nicole Donisi and Melinda Hoffman to win her final on a race-to-4 after initially losing the hot seat match to Donisi. Other notable results included Kim Jones advancing past Andy Camping in another winners' semifinal before joining MacDonald for the championship match, while Dani Casper's five-match winning streak was ended by McConnell in the quarterfinals.
Tour director Chris Rogers thanked Legacy Billiards staff and sponsors including Hill-Hill Productions, Diamond Mines Northwest, and Bonobo Billiards for their support during a successful 25th-anniversary season run that has seen MacDonald finish third or fourth an average of her last seven recorded cash events. The NWPA tour continues with Stop #6 scheduled for Sept. 26–27 in Roseburg, OR, featuring a 9-ball event on 9-foot tables hosted by Bobalou Billiards.
